DC Announces BATMAN #676 RIP 2nd Printing!

Finally some DC news from YIKES! Hopefully taking a cue from the success of late that Marvel's been having, DC has announced a second printing on Batman #676, the introductory chapter of R.I.P.!

This issue now sports a total of 3 covers (nothing close to the amount of covers Joey Q's putting on some of his books) and even though the bane of the comic book world is the speculator market, multiple covers still drive sales. It worked for Civil War and is going gangbusters for Secret Invasion, so we're excited to see how DC continues to push the sales of it's flagship characters.

Another thing that we like about this is that DC, instead of having a cover pulled from interior art, is recoloring it's variant for the second printing. We think it looks better than the original anyway!

This bad boy ships June 11th.

Skaar #1 Ron Garney Cover Image Released

Motor City Convention this weekend

YIKES! makes the trek to Detroit this weekend to check out Motor City Con. The crew will be gone so shipping will not resume until Monday. We will have wifi to answer emails and show off the stuff we pick up. We'll be all over the place this summer with every weekend spoken for until July, and that's only because we haven't looked that far ahead!

So if you're expecting anything sent out, it's on the way if payment was made before noon. Anyone that paid after then won't have their package ship until Monday. (First thing Monday, we promise!)

Hopefully this weekend we'll update the blog with pictures and a few anecdotes - we'll see.

Secret Invasion EXPLODES in July!

Well, it's May and Marvel's solicitations - for July shipping - have been added to our online catalog. The biggest news of the month so far is Secret Invasion.

Not content to offer 5-8 titles a month crossing over with yearlong event, May's catalog offers 17 different "Invasion" comic books, crossovers and one-shots. More if you count variants and guaranteed 2nd prints.

Marvel has been easing us into this slowly over the last month or so, just recently putting out 3 or 4 issue miniseries stemming from the main title a la Civil War. Although a top seller, Civil War books can now be found in bargain boxes at conventions.

With July's 17 different titles, the "meat" of Secret Invasion's story should be revealed and the set-up should be in place for the grand finale - IN NOVEMBER.

So get your checklist and start saving, with the sheer amount of books coming out, you don't want to miss a thing!

Marvel makes with the Art Adams goodness

Alternating between DC Comics and Marvel, Art Adams has been doing covers for the Avengers Classic series as of late. Now he's spreading the love over to Hulk, doing one of the covers for the recently announced KING SIZE HULK #1.

Part Monkeyman. Part O'Brien. Adam's cover kind of reminds us of the original Hulk Annual #1 Steranko cover. Instead of holding the title up like Atlas, he's busting through it.

Now only if they were letters instead of blocks of ice.

This 80-page beauty ships May 28th, with a cover price of $4.99. Frank Cho provides the other cover available in a 50/50 split.

Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly Offer Smart Storytelling in New York Four

Frank Miller's 300 - Produced by NECA and selling quickly, this line is made up of King Leonidas, Queen Gorgo, Ephialtes and an Immortal. We still have a few sets left but these will be gone by the weekend. We'll have more cases coming from NECA in the coming weeks!

McFarlane Simpsons Series 1 - 4 Figures make up the base set and there's one Deluxe. Marge & Homer, Simple Simpson, Why You...!!, and Kamp Krusty all feature 2 figures and a backdrop/enviroment accessory. The Deluxe set is Itchy and Scratchy in Cape Feare/Spay Anything. Although smaller than the figures put out by Playmates years back, these awesome figures do feature minimal articulation.

Cooperstown Series 4 - In an out. An allocation from our distributor leaves us with only a few figures to add to the catalog - Joe D and Ted Williams. These figures look great and we hope to be getting more next week. This set contains the two aforementioned Hall of Famers along with Ozzie Smith, Steve Carlton, Roger Maris and Johnny Bench.

That's right, with pictures and information recently released from Hasbro concerning thier Marvel License - and more specifically Marvel Legends - we are now offering Marvel Legends Hasbro Series 1 for Preorder!

Singles, Sets and the Build-A-Figure Annihilus are available for Preorder. Cases will be made available once pricing is released. We'll have no problem getting these from Hasbro, but case pricing has not been made available.

If you're interested in a SEALED case of 12, shoot us an email and we'll notify you when more information is available!

No "official" press pictures have been released, only prototype pictures to Toyfare, which cannot be reprinted.

Not only does this big-ass, 336 pages compilation collect all of Kevin's comic work from the Cclerks, Chasing Dogma and Bluntman and Chronic books, but also includes two special treats. The 15 page, black and white mini-epic "Walt Flanagan's Dog" featuring the art of Matt Wagner, is reprinted for the first time ever.

With 2 successful conventions over the past 2 weekends, things are finally settling down at YIKES! Many thanks go to the organizers of the FX Show in Orlando and Wes at the Atlanta Comic Convention! Both were awesome shows and we look forward to doing them again! Also thanks to Stephanie Gladden for the PRC Mascot sketch to be used in upcoming YIKES! advertisements.

With all the toys that have been flying off the pegs, lots of new merchandise is filling up the store on a daily basis.
