DC Announces BATMAN #676 RIP 2nd Printing!

Finally some DC news from YIKES! Hopefully taking a cue from the success of late that Marvel's been having, DC has announced a second printing on Batman #676, the introductory chapter of R.I.P.!

This issue now sports a total of 3 covers (nothing close to the amount of covers Joey Q's putting on some of his books) and even though the bane of the comic book world is the speculator market, multiple covers still drive sales. It worked for Civil War and is going gangbusters for Secret Invasion, so we're excited to see how DC continues to push the sales of it's flagship characters.

Another thing that we like about this is that DC, instead of having a cover pulled from interior art, is recoloring it's variant for the second printing. We think it looks better than the original anyway!

This bad boy ships June 11th.

Skaar #1 Ron Garney Cover Image Released

Released in a 50/50 split with the Carlo Pagulayan cover, Garney's cover looks more Hulk and less Conan the Barbarian.

5 New Marvel Printings Announced.

We teased you last week, and now SECRET INVASION #1, 3RD PRINTING has been officially announced as has 4 other new printings. Here's the info:

• The Dark Tower: The Long Road Home #2 2nd Printing Variant
Written by Robin Furth & Peter David with interior art by Jae Lee & Richard Isanove, the new issue finds Roland’s spirit trapped inside Maerlyn's sinister Grapefruit. He is taken on a terrifying journey to the outer reaches of End-World...to the harsh domain called Thunderclap! Meanwhile, back in Mid-World, Roland’s ka-tet is pursued by the Hambry posse who plans to kill them before they cross the Xay River on their journey home.




• Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas #1 2nd Printing Adi Granov Variant
Even Iron Man needs a vacation now and then, but where does billionaire playboy Tony Stark like to go to get away from his super-hero work and his multi-national corporation? Only the casinos of sin city will do. Writer Favreau and artist Adi Granov begin a four-issue Marvel Knights series, in which Tony’s “me time” is cut short after he comes across a beautiful archeologist, the dragon statue she’s uncovered and a swarm of lizards now running loose. Can he make sure that whatever happens next in Vegas stays in Vegas?



• Mighty Avengers #13 2nd Printing Leinil Francis Yu Variant
Fan-favorite artist Alex Maleev reunites with his former Daredevil collaborator, acclaimed scribe Brian Michael Bendis, in the Secret Invasion tie-in issue that will reacquaint readers with a hero that’s been in hiding for far too long: Nick Fury! Fury has always been a man in possession of valuable pieces of information, but now his knowledge has made him a Skrull target. • Secret Invasion #1 3rd Printing Yu Variant

Diamond Comic Distributors have announced a new Variant cover for SECRET INVASION: WHO DO YOU TRUST? to be released this year at Wizard World Chicago.

Wizard World Chicago Sketch Variant boasts a striking, black-and-white Phil Jimenez cover depicting a host of Marvel’s mightiest heroes as impersonated by shape-shifting Skrull invaders. Motor City Convention this weekend

YIKES! makes the trek to Detroit this weekend to check out Motor City Con. The crew will be gone so shipping will not resume until Monday. We will have wifi to answer emails and show off the stuff we pick up. We'll be all over the place this summer with every weekend spoken for until July, and that's only because we haven't looked that far ahead!

So if you're expecting anything sent out, it's on the way if payment was made before noon. Anyone that paid after then won't have their package ship until Monday. (First thing Monday, we promise!)

Hopefully this weekend we'll update the blog with pictures and a few anecdotes - we'll see.

Secret Invasion EXPLODES in July!

Well, it's May and Marvel's solicitations - for July shipping - have been added to our online catalog. The biggest news of the month so far is Secret Invasion.

Not content to offer 5-8 titles a month crossing over with yearlong event, May's catalog offers 17 different "Invasion" comic books, crossovers and one-shots. More if you count variants and guaranteed 2nd prints.

Marvel has been easing us into this slowly over the last month or so, just recently putting out 3 or 4 issue miniseries stemming from the main title a la Civil War. Although a top seller, Civil War books can now be found in bargain boxes at conventions.

With July's 17 different titles, the "meat" of Secret Invasion's story should be revealed and the set-up should be in place for the grand finale - IN NOVEMBER.

So get your checklist and start saving, with the sheer amount of books coming out, you don't want to miss a thing!

Marvel makes with the Art Adams goodness

Alternating between DC Comics and Marvel, Art Adams has been doing covers for the Avengers Classic series as of late. Now he's spreading the love over to Hulk, doing one of the covers for the recently announced KING SIZE HULK #1.

Part Monkeyman. Part O'Brien. Adam's cover kind of reminds us of the original Hulk Annual #1 Steranko cover. Instead of holding the title up like Atlas, he's busting through it.

Now only if they were letters instead of blocks of ice.

This 80-page beauty ships May 28th, with a cover price of $4.99. Frank Cho provides the other cover available in a 50/50 split.

The cover image for Secret Invasion #1 2nd Print was pulled from interior art and it is unknown if the 3rd print will be another panel or a sketch version.

As soon as the image is released, we'll have it up on the blog and Yikes! Toys and Comics!
